What we do
Evidence-based programmes of early care and support for children with developmental disabilities and their caregivers
Baby Ubuntu is a low-cost, evidence-based programme of early care and peer support to promote the inclusion of young children with developmental disabilities and their caregivers in family and community life. The programme is supported by a shared learning community, that offers training, tools and resources to support a broad community of practice, where partners and practitioners can share experiences, evidence, and lessons learned.
Harnessing the power of expert parents
Our participatory group programmes are co-facilitated by expert parents and health professionals, recognising the value of expertise through both lived experience and professional training.
Delivered through a series of group sessions with caregivers and their children, the programme creates space for sharing experiences, building connections, and strengthening practical skills to support children’s inclusion and participation in everyday life.

Engaging with communities
We work alongside families and communities to promote positive narratives around disability and challenge harmful superstitions, stigma and self-blame. We actively engages fathers and the wider community to reduce the risk of abandonment, supports women to return to work, and address poverty.
By working in partnership with local organisations, we strengthen caregiver knowledge and leadership to help build more inclusive families and communities. Through mentorship and shared learning, we support partners to adapt the programme to their local contexts and realities.

Scaling with fidelity through partnerships
We work in partnership with governments, disability organisations, community leaders, and families, recognising that communities are best placed to identify their own challenges and solutions. This collaborative approach keeps Baby Ubuntu grounded in community ownership and local context.
Through careful adaptation, we scale the programme with fidelity, strengthening relevance and sustainability. Our aim is to build a globally accessible resource that supports inclusive community transformation for children with disabilities and their families.
